Very good cheap notebook computers can be obtained by doing your research systematically before going to purchase one. Make out the specifications that you want for your cheap notebook computer in a list. Go throufgh the list thoroughly, deleting those items you do not realy need.

If you’re looking for a cheap notebook computer, there are a few issues to be conscious of so you don’t skimp on quality. Computers have grown to be so commonplace in our lives that we from time to time forget that they are complicated pieces of technology that want care. And, notebook computers are no exception.

whenever you want to purchase a cheap notebook computers, You will need to consider five features,

1. The weight of the notebook computer

Notebook computers weigh between 3 - 7 lbs. The lighter the notebook the more classy they are. And, when cost is a crucial issue, does it actually matter to you if your laptop is a couple of pounds heavier? Probably not. So why not pick for a 5 or 6 lb notebook and save a few hundred dollars.

2. Consider brand and customer service

Going for a trustworthy brand for your next notebook computer is essential. When people contemplate buying an inexpensive notebook, they might initially think about going with an unidentified brand to save money. This is a blunder. The specialized computer companies that have been around for years proffer far better customer service. 24/7 customer service is key when you buy a technical item like a laptop. Choose the top names like Dell, Sony, Mac, HP, or Compaq. There are much better techniques to save money on a notebook than by shopping with an unknown brand.

3. Screen size consideration

If the budget only agree to for a cheap notebook computer, then save money by choosing a smaller screen size. You can still get a crisp, clear, color screen without it being the new 20″ model. typical screen sizes for a laptop range from 12″ to 20″. A good 14″ screen is a fine trade off to save you a few hundred dollars.

4. Computer processor speed

Processor speeds change about every three months so don’t worry about having the best and fastest because it won’t be in a few weeks. I advise choosing a processor that’s in the middle - not the fastest but not the slowest. You should realize that Intel processors are the most expensive while AMD and Intel Celerons are cheaper with good quality. As long as you have one of those three brands you should have no troubles with your processor. To search out a cheaper notebook computer, get a processor that is a happy medium.

5. Beware of add-ons

When you’re trying to get a cheap notebook computer, you have to shun enticement when it comes to add-ons. You know the upgrades and optional equipment they request you to buy that can in point of fact have you spend more money on the add-ons than the computer. I’m talking in point of fact speakers, printers, fancy keyboards, optical wireless mice, upgraded CD/DVD drives, carrying cases, pre-installed software upgrades, extra hard drive storage (have you ever used more than 60 or 80 Gigs of space on a laptop? Come on.), upgraded batteries (because you never know when you’ll need your laptop on for 28 hours straight), and fancy graphic cards, and the like.

Now bear in mind to stick to the basics when shopping for a cheap notebook computer. It is feasible to get a good quality, new technology, notebook for around $500-$600 if you concentrate on what you need, and not what is bright and shiny.

lastly, finding a cheap notebook computer is easily done when necessary research is carried out before hand. a cheap notebook computer in the range of $400 to $600 can easily be found and purchased.

When Buying Your First Computer Points to Know

November 19, 2009 by admin
Filed under Notebook Computer Buying Guide

Points to know when buying your first computer

The first question you need to ask yourself is why you need a computer and for what purpose you will use it:

* Surfing the Internet

* Sending and receiving e-mail

* Word Processing

* Spreadsheet and Money management

* Listening and recording music

* Storing and manipulating images

* Playing games

When you are certain that you really need a computer then you need to consider what computer to purchase.

The most common type of computer is the PC. Fewer and fewer people these days use Macintoshes and while Apple still makes them they are used primarily for graphics work at the high end multimedia level.

For home or office use you may be far better purchasing a desktop PC with pre-installed software. And PC prices are on the way down.

Of course notebook computers are really great if you want to take advantage of the portability that they offer, although you really need to weigh this against the cost — as laptops are still much more expensive than your average PC with the same functionality.

You need to determine what capabilities you want your computer to have – the size of the hard drive, the memory and the types of cards – video and audio – that it comes with.

For a standard home or basic office use you should be adequately served by 256Mb of RAM memory with a 80Gb hard drive for storage.

Two other things to consider are that you will need a monitor and software.

For a monitor, try for a 17 inch so that you don’t have to squint to see what is on your screen. Flat panel displays are great for saving space too and the clarity of the displays now are quite impressive.

Most computers will come installed with software. Find what software the PC will come with and work out if this is all you need.

Basic word processing, spreadsheet and email/organizer software is adequate for most people and the ability to access the internet will require a modem installed as well.

If you are worried about learning to use your computer, don’t be. There are tutorials within Windows XP to help get you started, and “wizards” are easy to use, step by step programs built into Windows that will help you learn a lot too.

Plus, once you get hooked up and online with your own computer, you will have access to millions of sites ready and willing to help you learn all about your new desktop PC, the software you have, and even learn how to do things you never imagined.

GPS Vehicle Tracking Can Tell You How You Drive

November 17, 2009 by admin
Filed under Notebook Computer Accessories

Anyone out there who loves gadgets and really wants to know about their own driving style should install a GPS vehicle tracking device in to their car or truck. By doing this you will be able to collect data on what you really do when you are driving around.

The GPS tracker system will record your every move as you navigate the streets and accelerate, slow down or brake. Your speed, direction of travel and even altitude as you drive up and down hills can be stored for later analysis.

You may also have the benefit of a reduced insurance premium if you install a tracking device in your vehicle, but check with your insurance company first as they may require you to install a particular make or standard of device or system.

Another benefit will be available to you when it comes around to that wonderful time of the year when you have to do your tax returns. Your GPS device will record the exact mileage that you have covered so that you never have to take down readings from the odometer ever again.

Using the web based interface supplied with the system, which you will be able to access over the internet via your personal computer or laptop, you will be able to see all the data that has been recorded for all the journeys that you made with the GPS tracking device installed in the vehicle and switched on.

You will also get detailed reports that analyze the recorded data and display summary information in a format which is easy to understand and which will show you exactly how you have driven the vehicle.

Your particular driving style will be there in black and white for you to study. You might be quite surprised at what you find. You may think you never break the speed limit but the results might just prove otherwise.

Everything you do when driving will be documented in detail including instances of hard braking and extreme acceleration which might suggest to you that you are not such a smooth driver as you might have thought. You will also get to find out your maximum speeds and average speed figures for different journeys.

Whether all this makes a difference to your driving style after seeing the results will depend on you alone, but hopefully if you are doing things that you think you shouldn’t be then it will an eye opener that could trigger you into taking action.

Whatever happens and whatever results you see in the reports you will become more aware of your own driving and this is definitely a good thing for us al. Also if your driving is somewhat on the bad side then there is at least some hope that you might slow down which can’t be a bad thing.

The web based monitoring means you will be able to access your reports whenever you want and wherever you happen to be so long as you have a connection to the internet from a computer.

A GPS vehicle tracking system can therefore have many additional benefits other than the vehicle location and tracking functionality for which it was originally designed.

As a bonus you can also lower your insurance premiums and get to see how good a driver you really are.

Notebook Computer Displays

November 16, 2009 by admin
Filed under Notebook Computer Buying Guide

When it comes to laptop computers, the choice of display size is one of the most important considerations you have to make. It is just as important as ram size, hard drive size, and processor speed. The display size will also heavily factor into the overall weight of the notebook computer. A larger display size means a larger physical footprint, which is more or less desireable depending on whether you need an ultraportable, mainstream, or gaming style computer. The most important factor, however, is your comfort level. A smaller screen (ultraportable size) may mean great mobility, but none of that is helpful if text or pictures appear uncomfortably small.

Types Of Displays

Due to increasing demand, more and more manufacturers are making widescreen displays available as well as standard displays. Standard TV’s and computer displays utilize a 4:3 (or 1.33:1) aspect ratio, including notebook computers.

Standard 4:3 Aspect Ratio

The standard 4:3 aspect ratio has been in use by notebook computer displays for a long time and is offered in several screen resolutions:

- 800 x 600 (SVGA) - 1024 x 768(XGA) - 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+) - 1600 x 1200 (UXGA)

Resolutions higher than 1024 x 768 can only be found in displays sized 14 inches and above. Ultraportable notebooks with displays sizes under 14 inches are unable to have high-resolution displays.

Widescreen Display

Using a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, widescreen displays can generally display about 25% more content than a standard display. Computer manufacturers offer several size displays from 8.9″, 10.6″, 11.1″, 12.1″, 13.3″, 14″, 15.4″, to 17″. These sizes are popular now with even larger sizes in the pipeline.

When used for entertainment, DVD movies in particular, a widescreen display is in its element as it shows widescreen movies in their intended 16:9 aspect ratio. This means a bigger picture, more comfort and thinner or no black bands on either side of the picture.

The widescreen display also makes it easier to edit and view panoramic images and may eliminate horizontal scrolling on your computer altogether. When editing images of normal 4:3 aspect ratio, you can simply place your GUI tools/utilities in the unused spaces on either side of an image. In any case, a widescreen display can help you increase work and play efficiency.

Another benefit of the widescreen display is evident when it comes to serious work - the ability to display two windows side by side and to drag and drop (or copy n’ paste) data without having to switch windows is invaluable.

Common Widescreen Display Resolutions

Here are the common resolutions found in :

1280 x 768 And 1280 x 800

1280 x 768 (16:9.5) and 1280 x 800 (16:10) are the two most common resolutions used in 10.6, 12.1, 13.3, 14, and 15.4-inch entry-level widescreen notebook computers. They provide about a 25% more onscreen content than standard screens with 1024 x 768 resolution.

1366 x 768

This resolution provides a 16:9 aspect ratio and a great widescreen DVD movie experience without any black bands above and below the picture.

1440 x 900

This resolution 16:10 is found only in 17″ notebooks and is positioned as entry level in 17″ widescreen notebooks.

1680 x 1050

This is currently the mainstream resolution, also 16:10, for 17″ widescreen notebook computer displays. There is a 35% increase in onscreen content compared to normal 17″ screens using a standard display resolution of 1280 x 1024.

1920 x 1200

At this time this is the highest for 17″ widescreen notebook displays, and provides a 75% increase in onscreen content when compared to a standard 17″ screen of 1280 x 1024 resolution. A great display for movies and gaming, however this relatively heavy laptop computer has tradeoffs in mobility.

Laptop Heat Tips - Cooling Pad Cooling Mats Best Accessories for Controlling Laptop Heat

November 16, 2009 by admin
Filed under Notebook Computer Accessories

Every year in this side of the world we face something called as the summer season, a season where the weather becomes erratic, temperatures climb and there are frequent cases of power outages. This is one of the prime times when it is necessary for you to ensure that this weather does not harm your laptop or give rise to any snags. Given below are some helpful tips for using laptop in hot weather: -

Ideal Laptop Temperature

Almost all laptop computers function effectually in the ideal laptop temperature range of 10-95° Celsius or 50-95° Fahrenheit. Don’t forget, if you happen to use the laptop in the outdoors, hot air, it should cool down before it is used in the interior temperature. Likewise, if you are using the laptop indoors, make sure you warm up the laptop according to the temperature outside. Like other electronic appliances, laptops too could develop functional errors due to heat. In these circumstances using a laptop cooling pad, or a laptop cooling mat would help you to easily cool down the laptop whenever it heats up, or needs to be brought to a particular level.

Keeping the Laptop Cool

One of the many warm weather laptop use tips is to utilize an ergonomic laptop stand for dispersing the heat laptop generates. Portable cooling pad and laptop stands, keep you safe from laptop radiation and laptop heat from time to time, but also safeguard the laptop from heat. Using laptop cooling fans would be suggested if you happen to use the laptop indoors for long hours. Laptop cooling fans and certain laptop cooling pads help in stabilizing the heat and stopping it from spreading to your furniture or your legs for that matter.

Pack Your Laptop Wisely

It is suggested that you use well-padded laptop cases, which have been strategically designed to keep the laptop insulated from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. If you plan to buy laptop case or any other laptop accessory like a laptop backpack, or a laptop tote, beach bag, or notebook cooling pad, make sure the accessory is efficient to sustain the heat of the laptop and the outside temperature as well.

Using Laptop Outdoors

Never keep your laptop in direct contact with sunrays, may it be shut down or still in use. If you do plan to use your laptop one glaring sunny afternoon, in the outdoors, you should use a laptop hood for cutting down on the direct sunlight on the laptop screen. Or, you can also use a laptop shield that will act as a bullet proof laptop shield to protect the laptop screen from being damaged due to the harsh sunlight.

Bear in mind that apart from the laptop exterior and laptop screen, the internal laptop parts like the laptop hard drive also stand a chance of developing snags due to exposure to the sun. Using laptop accessories like notebook cooling pad, laptop cooling stand, laptop mat or laptop cooling fans is the ideal way of protecting laptop from heat. You wouldn’t want your laptop to shut down due to over heat. Hence, use Laptop accessories as they are best protection for laptops.
