The greatest expense you’re going to incur in conducting a successful business is your advertising.

You have to advertise. Your business cannot grow and flourish unless you advertise. Advertising is the “life-blood” of any profitable business. And regardless of where or how you advertise, it’s going to cost you in some form or another.

Every successful business is built upon, and continues to thrive, primarily, on good advertising. The top companies in the world allocate millions of dollars annually to their advertising budgets. Of course, when starting from a garage, basement or kitchen table, you can’t quite match their advertising efforts - at least not in the beginning. “P.I.” stands for per inquiry. This is a kind of advertising most generally associated with broadcasting, where you pay only for the responses you get to your advertising message. To get in on this “free” advertising, start with a loose leaf notebook, and about 100 sheets of filler paper. Both these publications will give you just about all the information you could ever want about licensed stations.

Once you have a copy of either of these publications, select the state or states you want to work first. It’s generally best to begin in your own state and work outward from there. If you have a money-making manual, you might want to start first with those states reporting the most unemployment.

Use some old fashioned common sense. Who are the people most likely to be interested in your offer, and where are the largest concentrations of these people? You wouldn’t attempt to sell windshield deice canisters in Florida, or suntan lotion in Minnesota during the winter months, would you?

At any rate, once you’ve got your beginning “target” area decided upon, go through the radio listings for the cities and towns in that area, and jot down in your notebook the names of the general managers, the station call letters, and the addresses. Be sure to list the telephone numbers as well.

Nowadays, desktop computer is getting replaced by laptop; it is also called as notebook or notepad and can be easily moved from place to place. It is a small mobile computer which is very much necessary for all the people like businessman, students, teachers and kids. As the necessity of it is being felt more, many companies have started producing more variety of laptops making it tedious for the people to select the right one. Usually a laptop weights two to eighteen pounds, which depends on the size, material and other factors. Laptop runs on a single main battery or it can be charged using an external AC adapter and it can also supply power to the computer. In case of power failure the laptop can run for one full day using three volt cell. A laptop is a miniature of desktop and it is capable of many tasks like desktop, but with less power consumption and it can perform all the functions of a desktop, but it is best for mobile use and for efficient power consumption. Compared to Desktop, laptop can perform all the tasks, but t is less powerful, even though if it is of same price. The display of laptops is usually of liquid crystal and the memory models used are different according to the random access memory (RAM). Added to a built in keyboard, a touchpad or trackpad can be used and in addition to that an external keyboard or mouse can be attached.

In early 1970’s, laptop computers were technically viable and matching ideas had been proposed by Alan Kay’s Dynabook concept which was developed at Xerox PARC. But, the first commercially available portable computer was manufactured in 1981, but it was very large and heavy compared to laptops existing today. And the research process keeps on going and so many types of laptops have been designed and manufactured with different configuration. Laptops are energy efficient and are more compact than the desktop as the components are much bigger in the desktops.

As the manufacturers are different and each and every one of them have their own systems and method. Till date there are no firm worldwide standards relating to laptops internal form factors such as supply of electric voltage, motherboards layouts, and internal adapters used to connect the hard disk, optical drive, keyboards, LCD cable, floppy drive etc. Some parts like hard drives and memory are the items that are interchangeable, but motherboards, keyboards and batteries are only interchangeable within the manufacturers brand or model. Physical damages are more likely, compared to desktop, as they are portable and components like batteries, screen hinges, power cords and power jacks might get weakened due to ordinary use. Even though if a liquid spell on to the keyboard it is a minor mistake but it can damage costly components such as motherboard or LCD panel. Dropping a laptop can break the glass LCD screen. In case of failure of motherboard or LCD panel, the repair charges exceed the value of the laptop. These are some of the disadvantages of using Laptop.

It never fails - awhile back, perhaps it was a few years, perhaps it was only a few months, you bought a new super-fast, top-of-the-line desktop or laptop computer. At first it ran fantastic - there were few software crashes, browser pages visually popped onscreen, and games ran smoothly at high frame rates.

Unfortunately as the computer got older, problems started occurring. Crashes became more frequent, web pages took longer to load, games appeared slightly jerky, and the overall computing experience lost its luster. Why did this happen? Is there a conspiracy among computer and software manufacturers to make computers run slower so you’ll give up and buy a new machine? While conspiracy theories are questionable, here are seven valid reasons why your computer may start to run slower as time passes:

1. Slower boot due to installed software

If you install software, device drivers, or other applications that request to be loaded upon a computer’s boot, naturally your computer will start up slower. Security software such as firewalls and antivirus applications must start up immediately to help increase your security. Some software partially loads at boot so when you launch applications they seem to start faster. Plus, device drivers and helper software for printers, multimedia devices, and other peripherals may require being loaded at boot to make using such devices in a plug-and-play environment as seamless as possible. All of this increases your overall boot time.

2. Slower overall experience due to installed software

Just as loading these applications slow your computer’s boot time, they also may require additional CPU cycles, causing your main applications such as web browsers or word processors to run slower. Plus, more tasks consume additional RAM, requiring your computer to use your hard drive as virtual memory. Paging information to and from your hard drive increases the disk thrashing, slowing down your computer further.

You can help offset this somewhat by installing additional RAM if supported by your computer.

3. Uninstall software doesn’t always work well

While most applications support an uninstall procedure, these don’t always work perfectly. Uninstallers may leave temporary files, items in the Windows Registry, startup tasks to now non-existing files, device drivers that now are not needed, etc. Install and uninstall many applications and the leftover garbage can drastically slow your computer’s overall speed.

4. Hard drive fragmentation

As you write and delete files on your hard drive, the locations of files become scattered throughout, and files themselves can become fragmented. This causes longer times to seek for and load individual files, slowing down your computing experience.

This is more of a problem on Windows computers, and while it comes with defragmentation software, it may not automatically run by default and need to be executed manually. Plus, it is debatable how well it actually works. Third-party software claim to do a much better job in defragmentation, potentially increasing your computer’s performance.

5 Updates require more power

Updates to your device drivers, software, and operating system just may require more computing power than older versions. This can be due to sloppy programming or the addition of newer features. Plus, as security holes are fixed and workarounds created, such software may require more CPU cycles, RAM, and overall storage space on your hard drive.

Security is one reason why an older version of Windows may run much faster than a newer version. While the older version may seem to work fine, its lack of protection features can expose your computer to all types of security risks.

6. Possible hardware problems

In some circumstances, failing hardware may be to blame. Bad sectors can form on hard drives, and if the drive repeatedly tries to access a file on a failing sector or has to block off certain sectors as unusable due to minor failures, this can increase file access time. Other problems such as software that never used to crash but now aborts continuously can be linked to malfunctioning RAM. Diagnostic programs found on the Internet can help confirm either of these problems if they are suspect.

7. The dreaded malware

Of course, viruses, spyware, and other malware may be to blame. These create additional processes that put more strain on a computer and can increase its overall boot time. Other users may be lurking around your PC via an open port, causing all sorts of nastiness. Malware may be running in the background using your computer to relay e-mail messages, attempt to shut down websites via denial of service (DoS) attacks, and more. Thus, while security software may decrease your computer’s overall speed slightly, not having such software (and keeping it updated) can cause an even worse situation.

As you can see, perhaps the debated conspiracy theory of hardware and software makers teaming up to slow computers down as they get older may not be accurate. Installing and updating software can increase your boot time and decrease the speed of other applications. Faulty uninstallers leave junk behind that can slow your computing experience. Hard drive fragmentation causes increased file seek and read time. Hardware failures may be to blame for other problems. And of course, there’s always the possibility of a malware infection slowing the machine. By understanding the true reasons computers may slow down with age you can take steps to offset these problems.

So do you prefer to call them laptops or do you prefer to call them notebooks. I am partial to notebooks as I never keep them on top of my lap. Jokes apart, purchasing a new notebook computer is really tough.

If you were to read the ads then each computer sounds better than the cat’s whiskers. But when you look close, they all look similar. At least the similarly priced ones tend to be similar. So, is there really a difference between one laptop and another? Or should I say one notebook and another?

To answer this very question, I am going to look at three popular computers that are currently on sale and compare them. The read can then take this to be the starting point and evaluate many other options to find the one that works best for them.

First of all, let us consider the HP Pavilion DV6426US, a machine that I powered by the Intel Core Duo Processor T2450. This multithreaded architecture based micro processor is well optimized for multi-tasking based performance. The fact that this notebook comes installed with 1 GB RAM should help run many of the contemporary popular applications at a good speed. It has a 160 GB Hard Drive which is nothing spectacular, but should do the trick in most cases. And the bundled operating system is the Microsoft Vista Premium. And I really like notebooks that come with an integrated WebCam. This HP laptop sure has one of those. In the absence of such a webcam, attempting Video IM becomes a serious pain.

Second let us consider the Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E/B. This laptop too is powered by a Duo Processor, in this case the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7100. It beats the HP one in terms of RAM, as it comes with 2 GB RAM. Its hard disk is bigger at 200 GB. So, if Freud was right and size does matter then, well, this one has the bigger Hard Drive. The duo-core multithreading micro processor will deliver performance similar to the HP machine. This laptop comes with Microsoft Vista Home Premium.

Finally let us look at the Compaq Presario F572US. Like both the previous machines, this one too has a 15.4″ screen. Though it has a dual-core micro processor, the Compaq uses the AMD Athlon 64 Processor TK-53 and not an Intel based processor like the other two I wrote about. Also it has 1 GB RAM like the HP machine. Where I think it scores lower is in its hard disk capacity, a mere 80 GB. It also comes with the Microsoft Vista Premium.

All in all, the machines have pros and cons. I have not listed prices here, as they would change faster than I could type them out. But, make sure to look at the prices too.

So it is up to the company to sort things out.Depending on the size of the company, the computers shouldn’t be a burden. On the other hand when it is the big company with many branches in different places, the decision of rent to buy may be used .So depending on individual decisions, one could think of renting a computer or buying.

It happens at least once in the life of every notebook computer-it slows down in performance, and just doesn’t have the get up and go that it used to. Like most people, you run your favorite antivirus program(s) to make sure that “bugs” haven’t infected your system, and you even run spyware programs to make sure that spyware isn’t overloading your system resources. To take things a step further you clear out unnecessary items from your start menu, make bios adjustments and get rid of old programs you haven’t used in a while.

Once upon a time, laptop and notebook upgrades were considered “technician only” activities because of the fact most notebook manufacturers have proprietary technologies in their systems. That is still true to some extent, but the main hardware components affecting system performance in most laptops are those that have become pretty much industry standard. These are:

1.) Hard Drive

2.) Memory

3.)Processor

These components can be easily replaced in most notebooks. The first thing to do however is to determine if the upgrade is worth the cost. Check prices online to see how much it will cost. If I pay $120 for a hard drive, $50 for memory and $150 for a new processor, it may not make sense to do all three upgrades, I may only want to choose 1 at first and then check system performance.

If my laptop wasn’t very expensive to begin with, I may want to consider just purchasing another one. If I can get a Refurbished Windows Vista HP laptop for $499.00, that may make more sense than upgrading components on an older system.
